CASE STUDY:
Sacred Heart Medical Center is a 623-bed, 4,000- employee medical
facility located in Spokane, Washington. Sacred Heart is comprised of
the medical facility as well as The Heart Institute, The Children’s
Hospital and The Women’s Health Center. Sacred Heart is the largest
private employer in Spokane County.
The pharmacy department at SHMC had a part-time person outside the
pharmacy dedicated to doing their scheduling. This person spent 16 hours
per week or 8 days per month generating their two schedules for a total
staff of 110 people.
