DANGEROUS ABBREVIATIONS - NOT TO BE USED AND/OR ACCEPTED

O.D (for once daily)- Write Daily or Q day
Q.O.D. (for every other day)- Write every other day or Q other day or q48h
U (for unit)- Write Unit
IU (for international unit) - Write International Unit
QHS (for bedtime) - Write bedtime or half strength
T.I.W. (for three times a week)- Write 3 times week or Three times weekly
A.S., A.D, A.U.(left, right or both ears)- Write left, right or both ears
O.S., O.D., O.U. (for left, right or both eyes) - Write left, right or both eyes
MS, MSO4, MgSO4 - Write Morphine Sulfate or Magnesium Sulfate
Trailing zeros after a decimal point for whole numbers (e.g 2.0mg)- Write as 2
Use of a decimal point without a leading zero (e.g. .2mg) - Write 0.2mg
