What is the state of compounding? Pharmacy Purchasing & Products released their annual State of Pharmacy Compounding survey. The survey is a nationwide sampling of directors of health-system pharmacies and their views on current compounding issues, including USP 797 compliance, cleaning practices and competencies.
Regulatory inspections have become more common - 73 percent of respondents had a recent state board inspection. And while most cleanrooms in use were installed within the past five years, 47 percent of respondents had a difficult time getting budget approval for cleanroom construction or renovation.
Our next free webinar with Eric S. Kastango addresses the costs of sterile compounding. There is a tremendous amount of pressure on pharmacy leadership to cut operating costs in their departments and many compliance elements of USP 797 are viewed as expensive and ripe for replacing or ripping out.
