Decatur County Memorial Hospital Awarded Rural Health Quality Improvement Grant by Pharmacy OneSource Published: 5/22/2007 Hospital plans to use money to implement Sentri7 by Pharmacy OneSource Bellevue, Wash. -- Pharmacy OneSource, Inc., software as a service provider to more than 1,000 hospitals in the United States, announced that Decatur County Memorial Hospital was recently awarded Rural Health Quality Improvement Grant by the Indiana State Department of Health. The Rural Health QI Grant was awarded to 11 critical access hospitals in Indiana this year. Decatur County Memorial Hospital’s award of $10,000 will go toward the implementation of Sentri7, which provides hospital-wide clinical data surveillance and decision support to identify opportunities for intervention and avoidance of adverse events and medication errors. “We chose to pursue grant funding for Sentri7 because the software's potential usage spans multiple departments. We sought to be proactive in recognizing the need and believed the state might be looking for new, inventive ways to reduce medication errors,” said Denise Fields, Director of Pharmacy Services for Decatur County Memorial Hospital. “I also believe Sentri7 has the potential to free up pharmacist time, a precious commodity in a critical access facility.” Sentri7 by Pharmacy OneSource finally provides technology to easily give clinical pharmacy the enhanced laboratory-pharmacy linkage to detect more problems with less effort than ever before, leading to greater medication risk avoidance and better quality and financial outcomes. “We’re delighted Decatur County Memorial Hospital chose to utilize Sentri7 as part of their effort towards providing the safest level of care possible,” said Keith Streckenbach, Executive Vice President of Pharmacy OneSource. “We’re also pleased that the Indiana State Department of Health recognized the value of Sentri7 as a strong tool for quality improvement.” The pharmacy department was also awarded $5,000 from their Hospital Foundation Board towards their initiative. Decatur County Memorial Hospital has signed a 5-year purchase agreement for Sentri7, to interface with their current hospital CPSI System, and Quantifi, to track and report on their resulting clinical pharmacy interventions.
