Sentri7 to combine real-time data necessary for clinicians to make well-informed decisions about patient care in a timely manner

Bellevue, Wash. -- Central Maine Medical Center has joined the growing list of hospitals that want to get the most out of existing IT investments by combining their laboratory, pharmacy and patient data through Sentri7 by Pharmacy OneSource.

With Sentri7, clinicians have a single point of access to lab results, medication records and patient demographics, data that currently reside in different systems. Clinicians can write rules against the data to identify and flag at-risk patients.

"Sentri7 will help Central Maine Medical Center mine the data from our hospital's information system and organize this data so that we can easily identify those patients in need of our interventions," said Philip Rioux, Director of Pharmacy at Central Maine Medical Center. "Sentri7 provides us with the data we need without having to manually pull it from several sources one patient at a time. This allows us to be more productive with less effort."

The hospital can use the Sentri7 software to help avoid hospital-associated infections. Sentri7 can compare patients who are infected with a certain strain of bacteria to their currently-prescribed antibiotic to make sure they are getting the most effective drug, and can flag patients who acquire a resistant strain like MRSA.

"We are very excited that the Central Maine Medical Center has chosen Sentri7," said Keith Streckenbach, MBA, Executive Vice President of Pharmacy OneSource. "We look forward to working with CMMC to help them get the most out of their current IT systems, and ultimately improve patient safety and outcomes."

Sentri7 can also help the hospital comply with national standards set by the government and hospital accreditation bodies. For example, the program could flag patients that have had a heart attack and check to ensure they are taking aspirin, statins or other preventative treatment required by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
