Software helps hospital comply with sterile cleanroom best practices
Bellevue, WA -- Pharmacy OneSource, Inc., software as a service provider to more than 1,300 hospitals in the United States, announced today that Frye Regional Medical Center has adopted Simplifi 797 quality assurance software to simplify meeting all of the requirements of USP Chapter 797 for compounding sites throughout the hospital.
"Making sure that the pharmacy is following the correct procedures in compounding sterile products (products given through injections or infusions) protects our patients from infections," said Marc Hughes, RPh, MBA, Administrative Director of Pharmacy Services at Frye Regional Medical Center. "This program aids us in compliance with USP 797 rules on sterile compounding, but more importantly keeps our patients safe."
Simplifi 797 is a web-based application that automates, integrates and streamlines the quality activities and documentation required to meet the U.S. Pharmacopeia's Chapter 797 best practice guidelines. Simplifi 797 manages task scheduling for environmental monitoring and automates the reporting of exceptions and compliance.
Hughes said the Simplifi 797 program does the following for Frye Regional Medical Center:
- Provides off-site storage for record keeping for temperatures, humidity readings, and staff competencies
- Provides accurate and easily retrievable record keeping for tasks and competencies with reminders
- Reminds staff of daily, weekly, and monthly duties
- Helps "go green" environmentally by eliminating paper waste for record keeping
- Allows better control over seeing which tasks are completed or not completed

About Frye Regional Medical Center (www.fryemedctr.com)
For nearly a century, Frye Regional Medical Center has
provided sophisticated medical services to the residents of Hickory and central
western North Carolina. From its modest origins, Frye has evolved into a major
medical facility offering specialized care for complex needs. From the latest in
minimally invasive heart surgery to laser-guided cancer treatment, Frye provides
advanced diagnostics, medicine and surgery through a convenient network of
hospital campuses and outpatient locations.
From the start, Frye operated with one simple goal: to offer the best possible healthcare to people in our region. This guiding principle, instilled by the hospital's namesake Dr. Glen R. Frye and his physician peers, is seen today as an unwavering drive for excellence among the medical staff, nurses, technicians and others who comprise the Frye family. They believe passionately in Frye's commitment to care for the community and to do so by operating at the most exacting standards possible.
Perhaps this is why Frye has earned so many distinctions: Distinguished Hospital Award from J.D. Power and Associates (three years), Hospital of Choice Award by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers, Best Hospital in Overall Quality and Image by National Research Corporation, and Best in Charlotte Region for Overall Cardiac Care by HealthGrades. However, the award we are most proud of is the Five Star Satisfaction rating given us by our patients!
Frye Regional Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission, the nation's oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency.
