Pharmacy OneSource: How has Simplifi 797 helped your pharmacy with
USP 797?
Dave Swinarski: Before Simplifi 797, we used a paper process to
document all of our activities. This was very tedious for staff and caused a
great deal of work on the managers' end when it came time to follow-up on
omitted documentation. With Simplifi 797 we get as close to real-time
documentation and follow-up. A late or missed entry can be addressed very
quickly and corrections or notations made.
Pharmacy OneSource: What tasks outside of 797 are you using Simplifi
for?
Dave Swinarski: We are working on templates to do batch reporting for
a few antibiotics. We will be using Simplifi 797 for Cefazolin 2 gram IVPB's
and Penicillin G IVPB's to start with.
Pharmacy OneSource: What do you like best about Simplifi 797?
Dave Swinarski: The software is easy to use with minimal training. I
really appreciate having the monthly reporting available. In my old paper
system, I had to spend many hours to produce a report like this. Having
immediate feedback on missed documentation or out-of-range numbers gives me
an opportunity to address these issues quickly and reinforce policy when
needed. Early on this allowed us to see very quickly that some of our
processes needed to be reviewed. With our old paper system it would have
taken weeks to recognize the problems and change them. With Simplifi 797 it
was a matter of several days.
Pharmacy OneSource: Any other comments you have about Simplifi 797 or
Pharmacy OneSource in general:
Dave Swinarski: Pharmacy OneSource staff provided outstanding support
during implementation. They continue to support us with quick response to
our inquiries and prompt resolution to any concerns or change requests we
may have. I had concerns about documentation for USP/NF 797 knowing the
problems that come with paper documentation. We made the decision to
purchase Simplifi 797 believing that it would help us comply with all that
needs to be done for USP/NF 797. It is doing that and more. Simplifi 797 is
not just a place to document, it is a real-time tool that helps staff to
accomplish all that they need to do on daily, weekly and monthly basis.
